I bought this mask to wear on a commercial flight. I'll admit — I wore a N-95 mask through security and to board the plane. Once I was seated, I put on the Narwall. I thought I'd feel self-conscious, but I only felt safe. AND, it was much more comfortable than the N-95 mask that I had been wearing. I could breathe well, and could see well. I both read a book and watched a movie with no problem. This mask gives me a level of security that I didn't have before. I can now go visit my 85 year old mother and feel safe. Thanks, Narwall, for the wonderful invention!
While I am still waiting to use it in an extended session, it is comfortable to wear. I wear glasses and hearing aids in both ears and face masks are problematic for me at times. The Narwall mask fits well and I don’t worry about my hearing aids accidentally popping off, as has happened with regular face masks. I work on an overseas military base, and we aren’t yet allowed to ride trains or buses to go places (and some places are available to visit, and then off limits due to current local conditions). When the time comes, I will definitely be using the Narwall mask for train rides, especially, as they can get crowded and you are on them for several hours. Also hope to be able to wear it when the time comes that I can fly to other locations and not have to quarantine or be tested.
It was embarrassing to wear the mask at first but the reward of keeping my family, myself and my community healthy and the peace of mind that came with it makes it all worth it. After that first wear you get used to it and you’ll find that people are genuinely interested in the mask. Many of the comments I received after posting on insta were of people being grateful I was taking these measures to protect myself and others. Another friends comment was about how a family member of hers passed away from Covid-19. Comments like these put things quickly back into perspective and the way I look in the mask becomes the least of my concerns. Oh and wearing this mask feels so liberating!!
This second purchase is for my wife. She tried mine and couldn’t believe how easy it was to wear and breathe through. With her MS and lymphoma treatments keeping her immune system down this NARWALL is just what we both need to protect us. Thank You for a great safe product. We both highly recommend this mask.

This mask is the one thing that has helped me feel safer getting groceries and supplies and working on my severe anxiety about being in busy locations. My household has been under a tight lockdown since the pandemic begin as I was also taking care of one of my parents who was battling advanced cancer. After they fought hard but tragically lost that battle a few months back, the experience continued to have lasting effects on my fears of being near others outside of my immediate family. This mask is my tool to slowly and safely get some exposure therapy so I can at least get out of the house for a bit (especially in Midwest deep winter) and not shutter or straight up leave a store every time I see somebody not wearing their cloth mask properly or worse, no mask. I’ve certainly gotten some interesting looks and a couple teen girls snickering but Every comment I have gotten has been either sheer polite inquisitiveness or a very enthusiastic complement! Thank you so much for working so hard to develop some thing so safe and easy to put on and takeoff! My only mild disappointments with it is that it can be very hard to have a conversation with someone while wearing it unless it very quiet. In a grocery store, I have to be careful to really project and annunciate slowly. And I wish the bottom didn’t dig into my neck when I talk for more than a couple sentences or have look downward. It’s not unbearable but if I am having a 15 minute conversation my neck gets raw. Still doesn’t mean that it’s not the best thing to go to stores, hospital, and other indoor locations!
I have worn it twice. I expected to get a lot of insulting remarks, but only three people, all women, commented on it, and they all said "I like your mask". From my point of view the only problem is that you cannot wear eye glasses with it and if your nose itches you have a problem. You should also wear it at home for a period of time to make sure the straps are properly adjusted. It has the advantage of covering mouth and nose without slipping down, and your eyes. I have logged about two hours total wearing time and I am glad I got it.
We received our Narwall masks about a month ago and have been wearing them every time we need to run an errand. As an older couple these masks provide a degree of protection that we really appreciate. We take no unnecessary risks, but we do need to make the occasional trip to the grocery store or Costco. Considering how generally careful we are, we realize that we would probably be safe using cloth masks for our limited journeys out into the world. Our Narwall masks, however, move us from "probably" column to and "almost certainly" safe column, and that makes all the difference in our peace of mind. At our age it is worth it to us to take every precaution we can to avoid contracting Covid 19. We are so grateful that the Narwall mask was developed. We have contacted the company a couple of times with a request, or for further information, and have been met with the kindest and most timely responses anyone could hope for. Thank you, Alex!
I have bought 11 masks so far for family members and one friend, ages 30 to 92. Everyone loves them because they provide protection that is not possible with other types of masks. I would rank this as the top of the line among Covid protective facial gear. Besides being light-weight and comfortable, an extra bonus is that it actually filters Washington, DC air. If ever the Covid pandemic finishes, I expect to use the Narwall for bad pollen or polution days, too. The picture attached here was included in our annual Christmas letter. Now we have people from around the globe asking us about where to get the masks. Lastly, I recommend that Narwall follow up with its customers to see if anyone who faithfully wears a Narwall, and whose household members do the same, has contracted Covid post-Narwall wearing. Recommend that you ask "From who weeks after you started wearing the Narwall mask until now, have you tested positive for Covid?" I hypothesize that the answer is a resounding 100% "NO."
This is a great mask that gives me comfort knowing that I am protected in higher risk environments. The seal fit of the mask is great because you know the the only air coming in is through the filtered intake tube. While visiting with my doctor I did have difficulty having a longer conversation because of how the mask fits but in fairness it was the first time speaking beyond basic communication in a grocery store. At the hospital outpatient clinic I received many questions and positive responses because they knew I was protecting everyone around me and myself, modeling best practices short of my own oxygen supply. At the local grocery store I got more looks and fewer inquiries, many of these people seem inconvenienced to wear a basic mask and keep it above their nose. Perhaps they thought I was being over the top but as someone that received a kidney transplant ten years ago, I am able to perform necessary errands while staying as safe as I can. It does take time to get used to wearing it because if the tight seal on the face but it gets easier with each use. I have to fly I a few weeks for work and the Narwall mask will ease my worries of becoming infected. Thank you Alex for creating this product.
I am terrified of Covid and haven’t been out. (I have to say I’m getting used to grocery delivery!) We finally went into Trader Joe’s and I felt totally safe from Covid with my mask. As for sizing, my measurements were accurate and I measured for a “small”. However, I have chubby cheeks and felt like I was suffocating. I now have a large and it’s perfect! Hubby measured for a large and his is perfect. We are extremely happy with our masks. On the side where there is NARWHALL, I used a sharpie and added”.com”. so anyone who sees us can go to the website.
Simply the most comfortable mask I've found, and apparently darn near the ultimate in filtration. I'm close to ancient, un-retired to work for a specialty pharmacy, and visit at least 4 hospitals daily. Northern New England. Winter. Temps in the single digits F. The mask simply does not fog, transitioning from a warm car to the outdoors, with wind, snow, etc. Across the parking lot into the hospital. The mask does not fog! The flow through design means little to no warm exhalations accumulating, fresh air each inhalation. Okay, the visuals are a bit much, prompting reactions from curiosity (from medical pro's!) to laughter (my wife, amongst others). But the peace of mind knowing that both the air I'm taking in and the air I'm exhaling are filtered down to 0.1 micron particulates, that I'm neither exposed or exposing, makes the cost of no serious concern. Filters are reasonable, minimize haz-mat waste, easy to change. Do pay attention to the 'how to use' page - some things, like the moveable 'constrictor' on the elastics are not obvious, but simple to use/understand having Read The Fact-filled Manual (yeah, RTFM!), and do make a difference in practice. Whole heartedly endorsing this product, FWTW. Stay safe, be well.
I wear my Narwall every time I leave the house. It is so comfortable that I hardly know that I'm wearing it. I have no breathing problems with the Narwall mask. I made some little business cards with the Narwall web site URL and I carry them everywhere I go because so many people ask me about my mask. I tell them to feel free to take a photograph of me and my wife in our masks and I give them one of the cards and encourage them to visit the web site to read in detail all of the information available on that site. Unless I felt like I would give the Narwall mask a 15 start rating on a 10 star scale I would not do this. This is a fantastic invention of the very highest quality and I recommend it to everyone who sees it and asks about it.
Dear Reader, This is a pretty awesome invention, especially that it was tested & proven to be effective, which if you understand about Microscopic Organisms, Viruses and how they travel? Having a full face seal, is the ideal type of protection to have in this specific situation, which is what this product provides. Everything about this product was thought through. From the plastic, heavy duty zip lock style bag that it comes in, which is perfect for a decontamination bag, to store your mask in, until you get to a safe, clean area. Where you have some wipes to Decon the outside of the mask, & inside of the bag. It came with little hand out cards which explain the function, and legitimacy of the Mask. Which were immediately needed when I first wore it out, & walked into every store. Which here is where I state my cons: Because of the design of the mask looking so much like a modern snorkel mask? I’m afraid some of us bold enough to wear these, are wrongly characterized as “Idiots” who probably modified an actual Snorkel Mask, to mock the mask mandate. But what ever their train of thought is? The people around me seem to get uncomfortable around me, for wearing such a fully enclosed mask. But if you don’t mind the constant stopping to explain what, and why? Hand out a card, & them giving it back to you? Which I’ve learned works better if you just ask them to take a pic of the card while you hold it for them, then they could read it off the picture. Lastly? I noticed there was a little filter on the inside of the mask, right around my right nostril, that when I take a very deep breath? It kinda starts flapping up into my nose, which REALLY tickles. Yeah it’s pretty funny, but definitely not a good thing to happen when you’re trying to maintain the seal. So if I asked the developer for any improvements, it would be a different vent on top, that looks less like a snorkel, and move that filter a little further away from the face. Besides that? Very comfortable, and a lot lighter than wearing a traditional Military Style Protective Mask with a canister. Hope this helps, & I hope this provides you & your loved ones the protection you need, to stay safe. Sincerely, Happy Customer!
Very comfortable, easy to breathe, great visibility, with 97.997 viral filtration you feel very protected. A must for those with immune compromised health issues. I bought mine to protect my wife and then when I received it she tried it in and loved it. No more masks and goggles. A priceless value .
The mask was even more than I expected! It creates a very good seal around my face. Compared to other manufacturers full faced masks, the price was very reasonable. It gives me a sense of security that regular masks can't compete with. If everyone wore one of theses for a month we would be saying remember the virus last year? If there is no host for the virus, then there is no virus. Keep up the good work Narwall folks! You are literally saving lives!
I was a bit skeptical at first with the design and the $85 price tag. But the mask is worth every penny. As a college student, I really don't know what I'm going to come across while walking through my campus, and I want to protect myself and others. Aside from the looks people have given me and the slight ring around my face, the mask is an amazing piece of ingenuity that will keep myself safe, and I'm sure we will beat this pandemic.
This is one of the best companies I have every had the pleasure of doing business. I have recommended to the company that I work for because that is how impressed I am with the folk who own and run this company. The mask is of great quality. They ship orders very fast and you receive an email telling you it has shipped and it arrived 2 days sooner than they said it would what a great surprise. I have emailed questions and they were answered right away again the best customer service. Employees know the product very well are very help full.
Kudos to Alex Rattray and his team for coming up with this amazingly creative device at just the right time. Entering intense physical therapy at a clinic following surgery, and being in the high-risk age group, I was nervous about too much close contact with others in a busy place. The airtight seal and claimed 99% filtration of the Narwall (my wife calls it "my octopus") makes it possible to go to the clinic with high confidence. To prepare for the expected looks, laughs and ridicule, I went shopping beforehand at a Whole Foods. There, I was astonished--slightly disappointed?--that noone even glanced twice at me or giggled behind my back . Finally, two young women asked where I obtained the mask and, while pointing at their own cloth masks, added: "That makes these things a joke." My only reservation is that I sometimes find it difficult to maintain the airtight seal. I can feel air leaking in around one temple, sometimes both. I force it down to tighten further but that becomes uncomfortable after a bit. I know the Narwall is supposed to shape itself to one's head, and maybe I just don't have enough hours so far--only about 20. But it is an issue Team Narwall might want to think about. Again, congrats and thanks for your serious concern, innovative thinking and daring entrepreneurship!
Mask works great, I got the L/XL was still a little small, but I do have a huge head! Anyone that buys one, needs to know that there will a period of adjustment until you get used to having it on your face all the time! But, with time you will get used to it. Loved the looks on all the peoples faces when they saw the mask. quite a few wanted to know where I got it, and I was happy to tell them! I love this mask !!! Only strike against this mask is, we need to get some way to attach eyeglasses inside the mask!!
Like others, I felt safe wearing a Narwall, but I was concerned people would make fun of it. The only comments I received were, “Wow that’s cool. Where can I get one?” ‘Love the color.” If I go to the doctor’s office I still wear a regular mask (double layer) because they do temperature checks on my forehead and consider the Narwall to be overkill, but everywhere else it is good to go. If I really have to go inside a store it is the best way to stay safe. At first I’d reply to people with how well it works, but humor works better. I usually reply that someday I hope to use it as a snorkel for swimming. When this horrible pandemic is over. I am hopeful it will be someday.
This is an amazing product. I now feel safe going out, totally protected and very comfortable. I had major issues using a visor since it was always steaming up. Since the Narwall has an airflow through it, in at the top and out at the bottom, there is no steaming and I can see brilliantly. I also had certain delivery issues which were resolved IMMEDIATELY by customer service. In fact, I was so please with my Narwall that I bought one for a frontline doctor friend. Congratulations to Narwall. I wish you luck going forward. Susan Moreira
Very effective. I have a large head so slightly small but I tweak it to make it work. It seems to add to dead space but I feel very safe and as a spine physician, it allows me close proximity to my patients for physical exams and procedures. The fact that you can turn the "periscope" sideways to make you look like a teletubby...priceless
I found this mask to be everything I first read about in an article in the Washington Post, and then on the Narwall website. For the first time since the pandemic started, I feel like I can go grocery shopping and feel confident that I have a higher percentage of NOT catching Covid. Sure, I've heard a few snickers, but I've heard more "nice mask!" I keep the mask in a bag with the silicon disk. Before I leave my car, I use the silicon disk to check the seal of the mask so I know all the air is going through the filters. In addition, the customer service has been outstanding. I had a question about my order and the response was fast and accurate. This is a company and a product worth supporting.
I ordered a mask for myself and loved it so much I got one for my son! He showed it to a doctor he does yardwork for and the doctor says his entire clinic uses the mask!! I highly recommend💕
Easy to use and it’s secure full face coverage provides a sense of safety. Plus, you can breathe easily and the face covering doesn’t get foggy. I have gotten curious looks and questions to which I respond by pointing to the name and suggesting they check out the website. Even now that I have been vaccinated, I use it when grocery shopping or when I expected to be somewhere with people I don’t know. The one drawback is it can’t be easily used with eyeglasses. Cheryl
I am a 69 year old male, with a beard and wear glasses at all times. I have purchased and experimented with the Narwall mask and I am very pleased with the results. It is a bit difficult to put on and remove with my glasses but once on, it's not uncomfortable at all. I am aware the due to my beard and glasses it does not seal completely however it gives me much more protection than a face mask with an addition face shield does.
I haven't had a chance to use this more than a few times, but so far, so good! It's much easier to breathe through than a cloth or KN95 mask, and I was getting some contact dermatitis from the KN95, so this solves a few problems and keeps me a lot more protected whenever I have to go to the store. Pretty comfortable too! The only downside is you can't easily talk to people. Hard to be heard with the Narwall mask on. But that's a small downside really. Otherwise....big thumbs up!!
I write a blog about how to stay safe in the Covid-19 pandemic. This mask is the "mask for the task". No other full face respirator, that I have found, filters the air in both directions and keeps everyone safe. The Narwall mask allows me to feel safe doing anything around anyone at anytime. I am way more relaxed now. Filter the air if you care - about yourself and others. I wear it anytime I need to be indoors, for any length of time. I can't think of any better insurance for safety in this pandemic. It only takes one time NOT having the right mask at the right time to get infected. Especially, now that the virus is mutating at different places anywhere in the world. I was going to adapt a full face snorkel mask, but it doesn't filter the outgoing air. That's bad for family, friends and strangers and wouldn't be allowed in many places, especially when flying. They also may not have the inexpensive easy breath wide area filters Narwall has. A real estate agent I know has lost 12 people he knows already to Covid-19. Three from one small wedding one time together. All of those could be alive now if they had a "respirator mask" like Narwall and used it. I jumped at the chance to get one. What a great idea and wonderful thing it is to have such a good mask. Breathing is easier than expected and the fit and seal is perfect. A bit tight, but that's alright. It will loosen up with use and has a super easy adjustment to keep the right fit over time. Exceptionally well made. Easy to put on and off and adjust the fit. Nice! Perfect "mask for the task" of staying safe, that anyone can use. Thank you Alex!
I haven’t traveled yet with my Narwall but will be flying next week. I feel confident that I will be well protected from COVID-19 using this mask in airports and on my cross-country flights. The mask seals completely around my face and is very comfortable to wear. People look at the photo and think”that can’t be comfortable” but that’s because they associate masks with not being able to breath comfortably. Breathing is easy and relaxed. Eyes are fully protected from virus, and the air you breathe in is as virus-free as the air you breathe out into the space around you. Thank you, Narwall.
I’ve chosen to not work as a massage therapist since March... Until I got the Narwall that is! First time I used it, I did 5 hours of massage. Of course it was nice to take it off, but even nicer to feel confident that my clients and I were safe! It’s been two weeks of being back to work and I think the clients love it... of course we have a lot of laughs as well!! Some clients have even ordered their own masks.
My husband and I bought the Narwall mask because we needed for a family emergency to fly a few months ago. The Narwall contributed to a very successful trip. We are home now. Safe and sound. And we have not seen anything else on the market available to the everyday consumer that gives as much peace of mind.
It does indeed feel safe, since the seal is good. Slightly difficult to breathe, but you get used to it after a few minutes. I routinely use it at Costco and Whole Foods, and no longer feel constrained to Senior Hours. Although you need to have a strong ego the first few times you "go public", the very few people that acknowledge their surprise have all been very positive in their comments: "I need one of those", "That's a great idea", etc. Most people make a point of not staring or reacting. On the downside, you cannot use eyeglasses - I've tried!
The mask is comfortable, and I felt protected from Covid exposure in the airport. Unfortunately, Southwest Airlines would not let us wear the mask on the plane unless we also wore a face mask underneath it, which made breathing more difficult. Southwest does not allow any mask with a valve — even if it has a filter. This is apparently a corporate decision that airport employees do not have any discretion to waive. Delta did permit other family members to wear their Narwall masks on the plane without the need for a second mask. Check with your airline before flying.
I am very pleased with the mask. It is easy to wear, clean, and change the filters. I only go out to stores when necessary and only during non-peak hours but always wear the Narwal mask. I have a weakened immune system due to disease and immune suppression. I value my health over any concerns of vanity. The majority of comments have been positive. The worst I’ve heard are a couple of chuckles and once I was referred to as “Rocket man.” I have had many positive comments and inquiries as to where I got the mask and how much it costs. I have also had several people wanting to take pictures of me in the mask. I feel less apprehensive when I do have to be indoors in public with the mask. I have decreased lung function but have had no trouble breathing while wearing the mask even during physical exertion. I used it this fall while mulching leaves. In the past I have used a conventional respirator to keep the leaf dust out of my lungs. The Narwal mask was more comfortable to wear than the respirator and had the added bonus of keeping the dust out of my eyes. I know it worked as well as the respirator because I was unable to smell the dust with the mask on. I wore it for more than two hours and had no issues with comfort or fogging. Afterward, the outside of the intake filter was very dirty but the inside was clean, adding further proof that the mask is very effective at filtering out small particles and even odors. Thank you for your time and effort in getting the Narwal mask into production. I feel much safer when I have to go out with my Narwal than any other type of face covering.
I bought the Narwhal in case I ever need to travel in a car with someone outside of my bubble, if I need to be transported in the event of an emergency, or if I ever need to get on a plane. Medical masks seem to be adequate for a quick stay in a well ventilated, sparsely attended indoor setting. But do you really want to sit on a plane with a piece of fabric draped from your ears and the person next to you whips off their mask to eat and drink during the flight? If you visualize it, I think you will see that most of the air you breathe flows around the mask, not through it. The Narwhal is possibly the only passive mask on the market that filters both air coming in and breath going out. It uses separate filtration ports, and one way-valves to ensure this. The Narwhal will protect the wearer as securely as the public. You will feel safe, and so can everyone else.
The entire headgear fits very well, and adjusts quite easily. Visibility is not overly hindered by this mask. Plenty of filters were included, much appreciated. I ordered two of the Narwalls; I thought the concept was effective just from the reviews. We have indeed used them and gotten a few looks from others. That has not bothered me since my husband and I believe we have much stronger protection from those whom we sometimes encounter who refuse to wear a mask. I am quite satisfied with this product and believe it is providing superior protection compared to a surgical mask. We continue physical distancing and Lady MacBeth-ish handwashing, of course. Oh: the mask is very easy to clean. When done properly the face shield won’t scratch, nor have I noticed any deterioration of the silicone around one’s face.
Excellent design. Unlike cloth masks, you don’t breathe in the same air you just expelled, inhaled air comes in the top filter, exhaled air out the bottom filter. I have worn this mask for more than two hours straight, much more comfortable, and safer, than cloth. This fit is secure and air only comes in through the top filter. My one slight negative is that eyeglasses are a problem, they interfere with the seal, so I either don’t wear glasses or minimize the issue with very thin metal frames.
Because we have a family member with an autoimmune disease, we’ve bought several masks during this pandemic (including the Microclimate AIR and the BioVYZR). Narwall is by far the most comfortable, easy to use, and safest feeling of them all due to its simplicity. Huge fan of this product. I’ve worn it on three mile walks as well as to the doctor and have always felt safe. I recommend it wherever I go and would be happy to talk through its features related to the other masks (and why I prefer this one) to anyone who has questions.
Wearing the Narwall is a lot like wearing any respiratory personal protective equipment (PPE), except more comfortable. I have used both industrial respirators and military chemical warfare equipment. Narwall is better. The mask is more comfortable than other PPE; it's easy to get a good fit and seal; and, breathing is only somewhat constrained. Obviously, I can't test the Narwall's effectiveness as PPE, but all indications are good. I get a good seal and breathing is clearly going through filtration. I place glasses inside the mask resting on my nose to get adequate vision without disrupting the seal. The glasses don't fog. I recommend the Narwall whenever someone stops me to ask about it.
Great if u don’t wear glasses
Fits close to face. Some people are confused that you dont have an additional face mask. They don’t understand the filtration process. Sizes are very similar.
Very uncomfortable Difficult to put on Uncomfortable to wear in public.
makes you feel very secure - no leaking air because of the tightly sealing rubber rim around your face. thank you narwall
Breathing in the Narwall is easy, but I found the mask exerted a lot of pressure on my face and became pretty uncomfortable after about 20 minutes. Good for short trips to the grocery store, not so much airplane travel.
Felt very protected
I felt very protective – do you think given win we went to get the shots
I feel a little silly wearing it but I do feel safe. I love it so much that I ordered my son-in-law one. My daughter has not agreed to wear one… Yet! LOL
Very easy to wear. most people I meet sail I can us my mask. wish I could get more filters.
Hi Loyd – more filters are available here: http://narwallmask.com/collections/filters
i get a lot of looks,.....a lot of comments regarding some aspect of scuba diving, and a fair amount of 'where can i get one'. then most will ask if it is comfortable, and after assuring them it is ask me what i think about it. usually people asking are wearing some sort of mask that has gaps around the face and various other substandard mask which look a lot more uncomfortable and unsafe then what i am wearing. i tell them i don't go out in public without wearing this mask and highly recommend it for those wishing to avoid ******* down others peoples air. i got no complaints regarding it other then you have to be really conscious that the face plate is polycarbonate thus like sunglasses made of same material it is easily scratched.
Shipping was fast. The included mat to test seals was appreciated. I haven't really worn it out for extended period but for short trips its comfortable and no issue with fogging whatsoever. Kinda amazed at this point you have to seek out a somewhat exotic mask for piece of mind but I'm glad that it's available.
I love the look and fit. I commute 4-5 hours a day on busses and trains. I feel well protected. At the end of the day decontamination is straightforward over smooth surfaces. Fogging of face shield after donning may be an issue in colder weather. Rain or drizzle may wet filter, so an umbrella is necessary. I’d like to see a PAPR connection for popular or a proprietary PAPR.
I love it! True, it's bulkier than a cloth or N95, but it's totally worth it. I feel sooooooooo safe for myself and for the others in my environs. It's quite comfortable -- doesn't get hot inside, as I thought it might. My only complaint -- and it's not very strenuous --is that I have to speak very loudly to be heard. I don't know if I got any funny looks, because I was too busy to pay attention to anyone but the grocery clerk and bagger.
Seems to be a well made and well thought out mask. My kids have been using it instead of a typical mask. They have not had any problems and seem to like the mask. My only complaint is you are not able to place two filters on the air inlet. It is designed for one, however, it would be useful to me to be able to put in two filters for added filtration protection.
This mask fits well and is quite comfortable. I can breathe very well in it— a big deal since my asthma often makes it uncomfortable to breathe through regular surgical or cloth masks. The fog-free face mask performs great too. I felt VERY self-conscious the first time I wore the mask put in public. But, you know? I got over it faster than I thought I would! Wearing the Narwall mask out in public, I get asked about it occasionally— mainly where did I get it and so on. Only drawback is that I cannot wear my glasses while wearing it (doesn’t seal well enough by the ears with the glasses arms there). But, overall, I’m very glad I have it and so far remain covid free.
I bought this for a flight I need to take in a couple of weeks so my current usage is low. So far the mask is comfortable, doesn't fog at all, and certainly makes you feel properly protected in public. Walking through the grocery store does attract some looks from other people but no one really seems to care other than curiosity. That being said this mask does take a certain level of not caring what others think to pull it off. The only negative is when you try to speak with someone while wearing this you are very muted. Just one more reason for people to stay away from you! Overall this seems well worth the money for piece of mind and the safety it provides.
Keep in mind you cannot wear glasses with this mask. I cannot wear contact lenses so I did not put the mask on until I boarded the plane. It is very comfortable and I felt very protected on the plane. No odd stares so this mask may be starting a new trend. It's so much better that having to adjust a cloth mask every 10 minutes (more often if you speak). Peripheral vision is impeded a bit so I would not run with it on.
Love the mask; however, I wish there were a booklet informing users on how to use the mask. Directions that were written and provided to purchasers.
Hi Carla – thanks for the feedback! Totally understand how printed instructions could be nicer than the electronic ones we have at how-to.narwallmask.com
I purchased a mask for each member of our household as a component of my Covid plan in case one or more of us became infected and we needed to isolate while living in the same house. The masks (large and small) all fit securely and are comfortable to wear. Alternatively, if Covid gets worse in our area (example of the new highly contagious variant), I will use them when we have to go out. Hopefully, we will never have to use them. In addition, I am glad the purchase supports a young entrepreneur's effort to provide additional Personal Protective Equipment for those who need it.
Way too tight on my head.
Hi Ashley – we've now developed an XXL extension kit, to help the mask fit well for more people! We've reached out; anyone else can reach out to us at email@example.com for a free XXL extension kit!
The mask fits well, and does what it's supposed to: protect you and those around you. There are a couple of disadvantages: 1) you cannot wear any kind of glasses, as their earpieces prevent the mask from sealing properly, and the mask pushes them into your head. 2) the mask severely restricts your peripheral vision, so you have to be careful you don't walk into or cut off people walking near you in the store. 3) the mask makes it difficult to talk to anyone - even the clerk at the cash register. You won't be understood, and you won't be able to hear/understand others. 4) you have to remember to change the filters periodically, so they don't become carriers of "stuff" in the air. You will get lots of stares from people, and some will go out of their way to avoid you, thinking that you must have some strange disease or COVID-19. Occasionally someone will ask how you like it, where did you get it, etc. and I always take the time to talk with them. (If you slightly move the mask off your chin when talking, they'll understand you better.) Personally, I'd rather put up with some strange stares than contract any of the diseases floating around in the air!
Yes you look a little weird in it but you get use to it. I have people coming up and asking me about it. I think it is a good value. I noticed that many hospital stories on the news show the nurses and doctors wearing similar face mask but with hoses to the filter. NO fogging issues but reading glasses are somewhat of a problem.
With this pandemic people need to minimize their contact we humans especially if they are older than 62 . Mr. Biden has already told everybody things are going to get worse before they get better. The mask we use has proven Might not be affective enough. The noticeable problem I see is these mask should be thrown away after 2 or 3 times. People touch the outside of the mask and that will transfer germs. This mask is expensive but it can be put in the dishwasher. After you remove Both filters. Zero instruction sent with both of our mask. Buy it now, before the price goes higher! It can be used for all pandemics. These are the wave of the future!
There's nothing wrong with the mask but we haven't worn it yet because it looks so strange when compared with traditional masks. We are afraid people will laugh at us. I thought it was a great idea. God knows we can use all the protection we can get! But you will have to get over what other people think.
For quick "in & out" trips to the local grocer where I'm grabbing hot food from the deli, I use your standard mask. However, for trips to Costco or the disease-infested :) Wally World, I wear the Narwall Mask. We have many non-maskers here in Greenville TX. I'm single with an inoperable syrinx in my thoracic spine along with diabetes and high blood pressure. This mask gives me another more protective option when I just want out for my sanity. I don't have to worry about exposing myself to COVID, flu, colds, or even the ragweed, fungus, molds that trigger my allergies. I will get many years of usage out of this beyond COVID. Thank you and I'll continue sending folks your way.
I love my Narwall! I bought one for me and one for my sister because we are both high risk. With my Narwall I feel safe going everywhere I need to - buying groceries in person instead of having a shopper get them for me, going to the doctors office, taking my dogs to the vet. I'm telling everyone I know about it and wish everyone wore one - if they did we would be back to normal much faster than we otherwise will be. It's a fantastic product!
I created some business cards and I have already distributed several dozen to all who express an interest in my and my wife's masks. One employee in our local supermarket bought 4 masks. On mask for his father, another mask for his mother, another for his wife and one for himself. Today when I was at the dentists office two employees an another patient ask about my mask and I gave them my cards. I would not do this if I didn't believe that the Narwall mask is a great product.
